The things kids say . . .

Here are some funny things we have heard our kids say in the past little while:

9/9/2015 "I'm a going to marry you but I'm not putting a dress on..." Says Tim to Lucy

5/12/2015 -  Jared: I was hugging Lucy real tight and yelling "Lucy don't die on me" over and over and as I'm doing this she mumbles under her breath " your going to die first", so I asked "why would you say that"? And she responded " because you are so old "! What a goon

4/16/2015 - Jared messaged me at work with this:
 Jared: Tim is pushing a baby in the stroller and I pretended to be a monster and started going towards him and he yelled "eat the baby not me monster"!

2/26/2015 - Jared messaged me at work with this:
 Jared: Lucy " I don't like tomatoes " me " why " Lucy " they are discussing and Jesus made me different ". Fair enough.

2/19/2015 - Jared messsaged me at work with this:
 Jared: Oh my goodness! I just had a chat with Lucy about how star gate is all pretend and they are acting and nobody really dies and that it's not real. Lucy says " I know, but Daniel tiger is real. " oh innocence.

2/2/2015 - we are getting ready to read our scriptures before bed and lucy runs up to jared and sits on his lap and says " I love my daddy" really cute, to which Jared kindly replied " I love my Lucy." Timmy, who was being trouble all night, was sitting on the brick fireplace and hugged his huge Olaf stuffed animal and said, under his breath, "I love my snowman." It was amazing :)

1/08/2015 - Jared messaged me at work with this:
So let me set the stage. Lucy is in all her jewelry, Ariel shoes and dress. I put up my arms like I'm going to fight and we start hitting each other. I let her hit me in the head and I go down pretending I'm knocked out and next thing I know she tells her dolls "now we have food." We are raising a cannibal.

11.25.2014- Jared messaged me at work with this gem "Let me set the stage. We are being pirates and Lucy yells " there's a dolphin hitting or ship! " and I say " blow him out of the water! " so Lucy took a huge breathe and blew really hard. What a goof."

Nov 2013 - Jared was counting money on the couch and Lucy said, "please money please!" with a big cute smile. So Jared asked what she needed it for, to which she replied, "umm . . . I need to buy a car . . . and some donuts." :) She sure knows her priorities!

Sept 2014 -
Me: we need to go clean the dresser that you colored on.
Lucy: no thank you. I don't want to.
Me: Lucy right now please.
Lucy: don't be mad at me!
Me: well I am mad. You colored on a dresser. You aren't supposed to do that.
Lucy: well I'm mad, mom!
Me: why are you mad?
Lucy: because you don't let me color on things!!!!

Oh the things kids say... And who knew paper and coloring books would just not be an acceptable medium for a child's early years of art?
Oh and p.s. Timmy has decided to paint everything with toothpaste lately. I just can't win

Sept 2014 - I said "Timmy give me your water please you are spilling it." Timmy responds "you can't get it mommy. I put it in my pocket." And then hides it behind his back. He cracks me up.

Sept 2014 - with Grandpa Steve "Lucy asked me to move out of the way this morning because I was blocking her view of the TV. I asked her who was more important, Grandpa or the TV. Instant response "the TV". Note: she was watching the Today Show"

April 2014 - I asked Lucy to do something this morning to which she responded, "I'm 16 years old! I'm not a child!" Someone has watched The Little Mermaid way too much 

February 2014 - Lucy woke up this morning in full on tears, which is very rare. I felt so bad for her but then when I asked her what was wrong she said very emphatically, "nobody understands me!!" It took all I had in me not to laugh, poor girl.

January 2014 - Lucy's prayer ended tonight with "and please bless we can have cereal and not oatmeal in the morning." I love when kids pray. Their words are priceless

 December 2013 - This kid kills me. Every time we go outside he touches the snow and then looks at me and says "owwwwie!" Literally. Every time. What a goof! We even gave him gloves today but he didn't like them.




 

Hershey! Oct 2014

On the weekend of Halloween we took a trip to Hershey, PA for the State Girls Tennis Tournament. One of Jared's girls qualified and we thought it would be fun to just all go and make it a fun short trip! We got to stay in a hotel, which was really nice and is always fun. They had a great breakfast for us each morning and a pool which the kids loved. Before we left on the trip, Lucy was talking to I think Jared's parents? I don't remember who exactly but they asked her if she was going on a trip, and she said "yeah, we are going to a hotel with a POOL!" Who needs Hershey, Harrisburg, Lancaster, or the like when you can just swim in the hotel POOL!! Seriously, it was the the most exciting part for her initially.

Anyways, yes we did go swimming, twice, at the hotel. It was really fun. While Jared was at the tennis match I took the kids to the Hershey World place where you can take a "tour" of the factory (it is a mock up of the factory) and you get a free little piece of candy at the end. The tour had singing cows. Lucy LOVED that part and tells everyone about it. I sadly have no pictures because taking three kids to a place like that by yourself doesn't allow for picture taking :)

When we were about to leave, Lucy had to go potty and I needed to get the stroller from the stroller parking zone, so I let her walk into the bathroom and get situated and then ran around the corner (really close, I promise) to get the stroller so Timmy would stop running away. Well, in the three seconds I was gone, Lucy came out of the bathroom looking for me. The security guard saw her and went to help her find me. What a nice lady :) She was really nice and helpful, and they very quickly found me (I was right there basically) and she complimented Lucy on knowing what to do when you can't find your mommy. Haha. She said that because when she asked Lucy if she was lost, Lucy told her "I'm looking for my mom, her name is Meghan. I need help in the potty." I guess she was impressed that Lucy knew my name.

Anyways, this story is slightly embarrassing, obviously, but the best part is that as soon as we got in the car Lucy yelled "Mommy do NOT tell daddy about the police officer!" I asked her a little bit about it, and realized that she was so embarrassed because she thought she was in trouble. We have been talking a lot lately about rules and laws and how police officers pull people over or take them to jail or whatever when someone breaks the law (she has been very curious about police officers lately). Apparently we forgot to tell her that they are there to HELP too!! Poor girl thought she was in big trouble and really didn't want her daddy to find out.

We quickly realized that activities in Hershey are very expensive and it doesn't really have toddler-friendly activities so we spent the first afternoon at a playground by the high school and then headed on out to eat for dinner. I love these pictures of Timmy on the swing. He looks so goofy with that hooded jacket  all stuffed into that swing. Sammy looked hilarious in the swing, like a little ball of fluff. He really loved it though :)

For day two we headed over to Lancaster area and had a blast! If you have younger kids, I highly recommend Lancaster over Harrisburg and Hershey

We got to go to the Turkey Hill Experience which is, once again, just a mock up of the actual ice cream factory. But the cool thing is that kids under 5 are free AND everyone gets unlimited ice cream samples. And when they say samples, they mean like a little styrofoam cup with like almost half a cup of ice cream in it. Lets just say we left having eaten our fair share of ice cream and feeling a tad bit sick because of it. It was designed for kids though which was so fun. The kids LOVED it there. I would seriously go back in heart beat. It was like a children's museum basically.

Another awesome part of Lancaster county is the train ride in Strasburg. It was this beautiful old steam engine and we took a 45 minute ride through Amish country. Just these beautiful farms and hills in the distance. We even saw a huge bald eagle's nest in one of the farmer's trees. It was so cool. It was a little loud and rumbly at first, so Timmy was a bit timid about it, but they all ended up loving it.

The kids didn't get to go trick or treating officially this year, but they went to zoo boo and to trunk or treat at the church, so they are covered in the candy category. This trip was so fun, it was so nice to go somewhere as a family and enjoy some time away doing fun things together. I personally love road trips and talking with Jared on the long car rides, so it's a win-win all round here :)

The second half of October (2014)

We had a very eventful October! The second half of the month was full of Halloween activities, a visit from Aunt Katie and the kids, and a trip to Hershey, PA for the state tennis tournament.

Here is just a fun video of Sammy playing with Timmy. Timmy was talking to Sammy and he was talking back. Of course, once I filmed it Sammy didn't talk much, but they love each other and it is really cute.

We went to a little pumpkin walk thing at the Panhandle Trail in Collier township that was really fun. It was our first chance to wear our halloween outfits and get some free candy and hot cider. It was really simple but fun to go out together as a family.

Timmy has become our little reader. Lucy loves to read, too, don't get me wrong. But Timothy will sit there all day and just flip through books all by himself. Sometimes he even hides in quiet places. It is too precious.

This is what my morning looks like. Sammy wakes up to eat a bit too early for mom and dad. So he gets to snuggle for an hour or so. Lucy and Timmy join us at some point and apparently take pictures of us. It is one big happy family each morning, but at least it isn't in the middle of the night!

Kaelyn and Lucy has some girl cousin bonding time watching TV one day while the boys were napping I believe. What cuties.

Kaelyn was not quite as interested in the show as Lucy :)

We did some service and raked up Grandpa Steve's leaves while he was on his LAST BUSINESS TRIP EVER! and the kids had a blast. Lucy was a really big helper actually and Noah  took a turn raking as well. Timmy, well, he held the rake a few times but wasn't so sure how to use it. haha.

This is proof that Jared is alive. He is working as a technician for security systems and as a high school tennis coach. He took some time one night to practice on an old loaner device. So I took a picture :)

So our raking was split between two days. Here is our front lawn adventure. The kids LOVE to run and jump into the leaves. At one point they all disappeared to the back yard and came back with sticks and were swinging them at the leaves. I asked what they were doing and Lucy said, "We are dusting!" I am not sure what that means. I don't really dust so I have no idea how she knew what that was, but it was so fun to see them play together outside.

Timmy and Noah really like to rummage through Grandma's fridge. Luckily they can't reach much, but they can reach the produce drawer. They came into the family roome eating two bell peppers and said to me, "We love PEPPERS!"

Lucy keeps asking for a baby sister, and she took advantage of Kaelyn being in town to get her message across. She LOVED to put Kaelyn's bows on Sammy. What a goof :)

We got to go with them to Zoo Boo at the Pittsburgh Zoo, where they have a few fun activities and some trick or treating stops along the way. It was so fun. We love the zoo in general and it was just such a nice day. I love fall weather.

 

Sammy and Kaelyn became quite good friends on the trip. Sammy taught Kaelyn how to suck or thumb (hehe) and convinced her to roll over and play with him on the floor. They were so fun to watch.

 



A trip to Michigan (Oct 2014)

Jared's cousin, Bryson, got married the second weekend in October and so we sent him on out to be the good cousin that he is and attend the sealing at the Mt. Timpanogos temple. So while he was having a blast in Utah with his family, we decided to drive up to Michigan and visit Johanna and her family. It was fun to see their new house for the first time and it was nice to not be home alone for 4 days :)

 

The drive wasn't too bad, basically split into two three-hour trips. We stopped at a Chick-fil-a along the way which was great. They had a nice playground, were near an inexpensive gas station (Ohio gas prices are awesome!) and I like their food so I didn't feel sick for the second half of the trip.

The kids had a blast at Aunt Johanna's. We love to see cousins, of course, so that alone was exciting. We got to do a lot of fun things. We went to the apple cider bar and got the delicious apple cider donuts as well. Timmy got to hang out with Conrad in Nursery at church while Lucy hung out with her older cousins during Primary program practice. They even let her speak in the microphone, which is her DREAM. She asks us every week if she can speak in the microphone at church. We went to a corn maze on Saturday and had a lot of fun just playing at the house. We also went to the beach down the road which was really fun, too.

While we were there we went to a farm that had a play zone for kids and a corn maze. Sammy got to snuggle up with me in the Moby for the corn maze and seemed to have a good time :)

 

This is a cool thing that google's auto back up does for my photos. It makes a little video clip thing when I take a lot of the same picture. I thought it looked cool :) Trying to take a picture of this many kids was an adventure! 

Timmy really liked to hide behind this guy. What a cutie.

 

Aunt Johanna made them some really yummy mexican hot chocolate. As you can tell, Lucy really enjoyed it :)

They also have a really nice beach with a huge playground right in their town. It was fun to let the kids get out and play and have fun and it was just really beautiful there.

Timothy really enjoyed chasing the seagulls.

Lucy and Netta were playing here in the sand with some other kids. Johanna was on the phone with someone and somehow i got this sweet shot of her talking with her hands. We are a very animated family :) hehe.
